Before you fly
Decide what travels and what gets rented. The rule that works: bring anything your baby sleeps with or eats from, rent anything with wheels. A stroller and a car seat are the two heaviest, most damage-prone items in the whole packing list and the two easiest to have waiting for you.
Book gear two to four weeks ahead in peak season. Doubles and car seats sell out on US school holidays before anything else does.
Arrival day at MCO
Florida law requires a child restraint from the moment you leave the kerb, including in an Uber or Lyft. Have a car seat at baggage claim rather than discovering the problem at the taxi rank. Our MCO arrival guide covers the terminal-by-terminal detail.
Plan arrival day as a nothing day. Pool, early dinner, sleep. Families who schedule a park on landing day almost always regret it.
Heat, shade and timing
- Park from opening to about 1:00 PM, return to the hotel for a real nap, come back at 5:00 PM
- The afternoon storm between 2:00 and 4:00 PM in summer is close to daily — the rain cover is not optional
- Full-coverage canopies matter more than any other stroller feature in Florida
- Freeze water bottles overnight; they double as cold packs in the stroller basket
Park logistics with an infant
- Baby Care Centers at the major parks have changing tables, nursing rooms, high chairs and basic supplies for sale
- Rider swap lets both parents ride an attraction without queuing twice
- Stroller parking is unattended — never leave anything you would mind losing
- Strollers must be folded on buses, the monorail, the Skyliner and the water taxis

Questions
What age is easiest to take to Orlando?
Under 12 months or over 4 years. The 18-month to 3-year band is the hardest, because they are too heavy to carry and too young for most attractions.
Should I rent or bring a stroller for a baby?
Rent. Gate-check damage is common, and the airport haul with an infant and bags is the worst part of arrival day.
Do I need a car seat if I am not renting a car?
Yes if you will take any rideshare or taxi. Florida's restraint law applies to those trips.
